Flowers and Photography Workshop

Learn the basic of flower photography and floral design

Have you ever wanted to take breathtaking photos that make you gasp? Come learn how to operate that fancy camera you bought (with the best intentions right?) We know it's sitting on the shelf gathering dust, so grab it and finally conquer your fears. Kimberly Michelle Gibson is an inspiring teacher. She makes it easy to learn the basics. Learn how to find the right light, operate your camera manually and compose a beautiful shot. She'll also be including a section on smartphone photography because it's not always feasible to carry around a professional camera.

After learning the basics of flower photography, you'll be given freedom to design a beautiful centerpiece as your practice subject. Design instruction will be based around the experience level of the participants. If you are a beginner, you'll receive the basics of floral design. If you've been creating with flowers for awhile, come prepared to be challenged to create in ways you haven't before. Once your centerpiece design is finished, we'll have multiple backdrops where you can practice your photography skills.

Kimberly “Kim” Gibson is a Greenville based portraiture and branding photographer smitten with flowers and doughnuts. In 2016 she photographed a series of floral art prints just as a fun creative project.

Melissa Smith has been flower farming and creating beautiful designs with her flowers for 6 years. Coming from a graphic design background, moving to floral design was natural. Flowers provided a new medium to experiment with color, texture, and form.
