We are looking for a candidate that is interested in sustainable farming, enjoys being outside and doesn’t mind a little dirt and sweat!
Our Ideal Candidate is:
Detail oriented and able to pay close attention to plant quality
Be a self-starter and able to work alone on tasks
Willing to accept feedback and implement it quickly
Able to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks (bending, kneeling, etc) and able to lift 40-50lbs (compost bags, etc)
Has reliable transportation and be on time
Job Responsibilities/Expectations
Farm labor including but not limited to harvesting, weeding, plant removal, preparing planting beds, watering, planting, seeding, fertilization, pest/disease management, farm maintenance
Farm projects- implementing new infrastructure set up, developing new growing areas
**This job does not include any floral design work except for occasional bouquet making.
Hours/Schedule/Compensation
12-15 hours per week beginning immediately. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday mornings.
Hours- 9am-12 pm in January and February, will switch to 8am-12pm in March, 7am-12 pm in April through October. November and December usually begin at 8 or 9 am depending on weather and daylight.
Must be able to provide references. Background check required.
$13-15/hour depending on previous farming experience

We are looking for a candidate that is interested in pursuing sustainable flower farming as a career. Working on a farm is a great way to get your start! This is a position where we will teach as we go through tasks on a daily basis.

What you can expect to learn:
How to grow specialty cut flowers in a hot humid environment. This includes bed prep, planting, seed starting, harvesting, and post harvest processing
Weed management techniques that are sustainable and time saving
Pest and Disease management with a focus on organic methods
Hoop house management
How to grow a successful dahlia crop in a hot humid setting
How to make a basic market bouquet

We can work with you if you need hours/experience for school requirements
This position is designed as a year long internship beginning immediately and through mid December. However we will also consider shorter time spans but you must be available for at least a 3 month period.
