I still remember walking into a florist with my first bucket of flowers. It was small, a few ranunculus and other spring ephemerals. I’ll admit, I was lucky- she was very into local flowers and was also kind. I didn’t know what I was doing- I didn’t even know to charge a delivery fee. She kindly added $5 onto my total. “That’s what the other flower farmers charge.”
Skip forward many years and the back of my vehicle is full to bursting with buckets of blooms. It takes several hours to make each delivery round but I return to the farm with a smile on my face and happy customers.
So what happened in between?
Years of learning what to grow, getting to know my customers/their businesses, and showing up week after week.
So where are you in this process? Are you scared to walk into a florist shop? Have you made a few sales but struggle with getting consistent orders?
Over the past few years I’ve been in touch with a lot of flower farmers and have heard their frustrations with selling to florists:
- They can’t get consistent weekly sales
- They struggle to know the quality standard of each flower
- They don’t have enough information about their customer to distribute at the right time
- They can’t get customer feedback to improve
Any of this sound familiar?
Then it’s time to do something about it!
I’m Melissa Smith, a 14 year flower farmer who built my primary business on selling wholesale to florists- not farmers markets or retail bouquets- Direct Wholesale to Florists.
They are my bread and butter; they pay my bills and my employees.
I’d like to share my secrets with you. It’s time we have more farmers supplying florists with high quality local flowers!

This course requires live in person participation. If you know you will miss more than a few live session, I suggest waiting until our next offering to sign up. Sessions are very interactive and tailored to each course’s participants with plenty of time for questions.
So What Does This Course Cost?
The course is $500. Most multi-week online courses are $1500+
But I believe that education should be affordable while still compensating the educator fairly. So, that’s how I’ve priced it. $500 with a minimum of 10 participants compensates me fairly for the amount of time required to prepare and teach this course. I think you’ll receive more than $500 in value from this course. However, you have to show up. Live participation is important. This isn’t a sign up and watch it later course.
It’s a dive in and figure out why your wholesale business isn’t thriving course!
